All Pirates are invited to the third annual Pirates Swim a Thon. Help us RAISE FUNDS for new team equipment, and for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.

The Swim a Thon is open to all swimmers during regular practice hours at the YMCA pool on Wednesday, February 1:

7:00-8:00: 10 and unders

8:00–9:30pm: 11 and up

We encourage everyone to use the attached forms to help with fundraising efforts. 2012 Pirate swim-a-thon Remember that every fund contributed helps the team!! We can’t do it without you!

Jan 21 Meet MOVED to Jan 22 (Gender COMBINED and NEW TIME)

Today (Saturday, Jan 21), the meet is canceled due to snowy roads.

The meet will take place TOMORROW (Sunday, Jan 22) at John Witherspoon MS. All swimmers warm up time is 1:00. You must check in by 1:15. Meet will start at 1:30.

If you cannot make the meet tomorrow, please email to let us know.

In addition, we will not hold practice today (Saturday, Jan 21). Since the meet has been moved to Sunday, January 22, there will be no practice at Rider.

Ever wondered what our favorite Men in White are doing at our meets?

Come meet poolside to learn swim stroke do’s & don’ts and what it is like to be a swim team official.
Wednesday, January 18, 7:30-8:30 pm – with Jon Despicio
Friday, January 20, 7:30-8:30 pm – with David Mercando – ADDITIONAL DATE!
Wednesday, January 25, 7:30-8:30 pm – with Jon Despicio
This is a terrific opportunity to be better informed swim team parents and to gear up for the championship meets!

All parents are welcome to attend. We would especially like to encourage attendance by:
Parents of younger swimmers. (The younger swimmers have more disqualifications than older swimmers.)
Parents who might be interested in officiating next season to attend. You can learn about officiating before committing to the training session next fall. (Swimming experience is not required and our officials say officiating is easy.)

We hope to see you there! We think this is a terrific learning opportunity for all of the Pirate parents and will help our team grow!

The sign-up spreadsheet for the January 21 meet is now closed. If you did not sign up on the spreadsheet, we cannot include you in the meet.

End of Year Announcements

Competitive team Practice ENDS on Sunday, February 26.

After the competitive season is over, please join us in Off-Season Training, to keep in shape and get ready for next year! The schedule will be posted in late February.

Planning is underway for the annual Pirates team banquet. Date to be determined for March. We are trying to incorporate a swimming party into the banquet this year, by popular demand.

This is a gender split meet, so please make sure you know the event number as well as the event itself. We will post relays at the meet.

This meet is SPECIAL — it’s an invitational outside of the league. Therefore, the kids get a break in distances. These are NOT standard league distances for ages, so enjoy it now. Distances INCREASE for all age groups after this meet!!

Sign up for the Ribbon Meet is closed. We cannot let anyone else participate in the meet Saturday. There will be NO PRACTICE on Saturday.

Check in: 12:45 – 1:15 pm. A full list of participating swimmers and no-shows is due to the other team at 1:20 pm and we cannot make revisions after that point.
